Some of these punk bands recordings were often crudely done in a garage, with an ordinary cassette tape recorder. Punk groups usually didn’t try to get fame and fortune, and most even shunned labels. 001.17.12 Knowing Our Brain
One of the most complex and remarkable, among the various organs of the human body, the brain in the most important part of the nervous system. Weighing in at about 1.4 kilograms, the brain contains approximately a hundred billion neurons, or nerve cells. The human brain is divided into two hemispheres – the right brain and the left brain. Both the hemispheres of the brain differ in terms of cognitive functions they execute. The principle difference between right vs left side brain is that right brain controls the left side of the body, whereas left brain controls the right side of the body. Although left handedness is associated with the right brain, the language centers are more likely to be located on the right side or on both sides of the brain. Before we move on to other aspects about right brain vs left brain, let’s have a brief look at basic characteristics of either sides of this remarkable organ.
Right Brain Characteristics
Here are some of the basic characteristic traits associated with the right brain.
- Random
- Intuitive
- Holistic
- Synthesizing
- Subjective
Left Brain Characteristics
Here are some of the basic characteristic traits associated with the left brain.
- Logical
- Sequential
- Rational
- Analytical
- Objective
When it comes to right brain vs left brain these characteristics help in determining the cerebral hemisphere, which plays the dominant role in brain functioning.

Even though there is no evidence to support this, some have said that Jamaicans would attempt to imitate the R&B and Rock and Roll music on their radios, and their attempts ended up with a distinct beat all unto itself. This was the birth of the Ska genre, which eventually ended with the Reggae. (more…)
001.16.12 Definition and usage of Technology

The Merriam-Webster dictionary offers a definition of the term: “the practical application of knowledge especially in a particular area” and “a capability given by the practical application of knowledge”. Ursula Franklin, in her 1989 “Real World of Technology” lecture, gave another definition of the concept; it is “practice, the way we do things around here”. The term is often used to imply a specific field of technology, or to refer to high technology or just consumer electronics, rather than technology as a whole. Bernard Stiegler, in Technics and Time, 1, defines technology in two ways: as “the pursuit of life by means other than life”, and as “organized inorganic matter.”
